RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances; it is a European Union directive restricting the use of hazardous materials in products imported or made within the EU. The RoHS testing is considered to be important because it restricted some of the hazardous materials to be used in electrical and electronic equipment.

RoHS (EU Directive 2002/95/EC)(Amend Directive 2011/65/EU terms as RoHS2). is a set of EU regulations that restrict the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. This directive bans placing on the EU market any product having an electrical/electronic component containing more than thresholds set for the following substances:

  • Mercury (Hg): 100ppm
  • Hexavalent Chromium (Cr (VI)): 1000 ppm
  • Cadmium (Cd): 100ppm
  • Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): 1000 ppm
  • Lead (Pb) : 1000ppm
  • Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): 1000 ppm
  • Bis(2- Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): 1000ppm
  • Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP): 1000ppm
  • Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP): 1000ppm
  • Disobutyl phthalate (DIBP): 1000ppm)
